Ouch..that hurts so bad!. You should get a grater with a rotating handle...I used to do the same thing, and then someone gave us a really great grater with a handle for our wedding. I hope your finger is ok.
I buy pre-shredded cheese solely for this purpose. Hope you heal quickly.

That does hurt. I always get my fingernail and even though it doesn't hurt it gives me the chills, like the fingernails running down the chalk board kind of chill. Did you have a good birthday? I was thinking about you, but I'm not good at calling--but you already know that!
