Just yesterday I was chuckling at my Oregonian friends that were wondering if school would be canceled or delayed because of their bad weather....I'm thinking, "they are so lucky!" That NEVER happens in Utah! I mean, they get a little skiff of snow and they shut down school. We have a foot or two and it's, "wear your boots kids so you don't ruin your good shoes at recess! " So, imagine my surprise today when I get a phone call from the school instructing me to pick up my kids because the school is being shut down! What!? I spent the next hair raising hour and 20 minutes inching my way to the school and back to pick up my frost bitten children! They were ecstatic of course! Apparently with the 100 mph wind gusts pushing the snow at an angle some power lines were knocked down and they were without heat and power.....definitely a reason to close down the school....I just wish it would have been at the beginning of the day so I didn't have to risk my life trying to get them home! ...This picture doesn't do the weather justice! You could absolutely not see a thing and the roads were completely covered in ice! Cars were off to the sides of the road everywhere! So scary....makes me so glad I don't live in the East!

So I do have to say that the main reason Oregon closes everything is due to the ice we get with the snow. But still 99% of the time NOTHING!
I'm so done with the snow. I had to drive my friend to the airport. Traffic was ridicules!
We didn't get a snow day and we should have. I swear they wouldn't close our schools for a hurricane. It was really scary yesterday and I don't think it is over.
Glad it isn't my week to drive! The roads are still bad today, hopefully it clears up...
That is crazy!! Why didn't they just bus the kids home, instead of risking all the parents lives by making them drive?! Hopefully it calms down for you all;)
Ya it was really bad. My kids school didn't close. I still made them walk home. That sounds mean but we live one block away. But the sun is out today but more snow tonight.

I am so glad Nathan was in morning kindergarten, we just got to stay in and keep warm.
I cant believe how crazy the weather was yesterday. the snow was coming down sideways at our house I cant believe we didnt loose power. I am glad you made it home safe!
I hate to rub it in, but it's been quite lovely here lately. It's supposed to be the hottest month of the year, but it's cooled down nicely in the evenings and the heat in the day hasn't been too bad. Fortunately everything has AC. It can get pretty hot, like Vegas, but we haven't seen too much of it yet. I guess we're lucky we've missed the worst winter in years.
