Our theme for Girl's Camp this year is B.U.G.S. (Beautiful Urgent Gospel Seekers) Our ward camp will be the "Butterflies". Mandi and I had to come up with a camp kick off that would be fun for the girls and make them excited for camp. What better way to do that than by making fools out of ourselves right?!
We decided to go with a twist on the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" we acted out the story while roasting to death in our awesome caterpillar costumes! Hilarious and tons of fun!
In the light of the gospel two little caterpillars sat on their bed.
One morning the warm sun came up and -pop!- out of the room came two very spiritually hungry caterpillars.
They started to look for some spiritual food so they could become all that Heavenly Father knew they could be.
They said their prayers both morning and night, and it was good, but they knew they needed more.
They read the Book of Mormon every day. And that was good too, but they knew they still needed more.
They went to Young Women's every week, and that was good, but they still needed more.
They went to Family Home Evening happily every week. And that was good, but they knew they still needed more.
Then they learned what President Hinckley said, "He who lives only unto himself withers and dies, while he who forgets himself in the service of others grows and blossoms in this life and in eternity."
When they heard this they knew what they needed to do!
So they made a list of all the things they could do to serve others and got to work.
They went and did baptisms for the dead,
they babysat for their neighbors without pay so they could go to the temple,
they read a book to their sister,
they weeded and watered the garden,
they made cookies for their neighbor,
they wrote a nice note to someone in need,
they wrote a nice note to someone in need,
they cleaned the toilet for their mom,
they changed the baby's dirty diaper,
they cooked dinner,
they did the laundry,
and they remembered to smile.
That night they were feeling so happy and peaceful because they were full of the spiritual food they needed to become what Heavenly Father knew they could be. They slept soundly that night wrapped up in their nice, cozy cacoons.
And the next morning they had become
Beautiful Butterflies!

And the next morning they had become
Beautiful Butterflies!

That is so dang cute. Too bad I'm being released this year, or I would totally steal that idea...well, there's always the next time I'm called, which I'm sure I will be. Way to go.
How cute and creative are you two?!? The girls are so lucky to have you guys in charge! It will be a blast for all of them - and you too! Love the pictures!
I'm going to work on my camera skills! I shared your caterpillar story with the Stake Committee and one lady loved it so much she took my copy to keep. So goooood job. It was stinking cute!
You guys are so creative, I love it! I wish Connor was in YW so he could pick up on cleaning the toilet for mom.
How cute! I am sad the girls missed this one!

Sweet and wondering if you were at camp with her? Sounded like you were doing the room also.
